Jennifer's Story

I love to accompany families in taking space to dive into and explore their new life roles as parents. To get to know the stories of pregnancy, postpartum, birth & parenting that they hold in their hearts, and then fostering growth & transformation so that they may shine while stepping into their new roles as parents.

I am always honored to accompany parents on this wonderful journey. Witnessing women and couples embody their new roles is such a remarkable thing. Honoring the rite of passage into Matrescence as the sacred moment that it is.

Offering support, mentorship and guidance is a calling of mine that has been growing for almost 20 years now. At the tender young age of 13 I was already nannying for a family with 3 children while their parents were off to work. Needless to say, my maternal instinct was very present even as a teenager.

At the age of 16 & 17 I worked in summer camps with children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. As of 18 years old, I cared for seniors in nursing homes. At 21, I became a special care counsellor and then worked for over 10 years filling many roles caring and guiding people with special needs, and their families.

My three births were life changing. My eldest was born when I was 24 years old! I was lucky to have people around me who believed in me and fostered a feeling of faith in the birth process instead of spreading the fear that we all too often see and hear. I practiced hypnobirthing for all three pregnancies and it was an invaluable tool in not only exploring and liberating my lineage's birth traumas, but also in preparing me for the waves of birth giving, and in helping to foster my mindset for the postpartum period.  My births gave me a power in myself like no other life experience had. I saw them as a rite of passage into matrescence/ motherhood. I wish to share this faith – that our bodies can do this, and not only do it but do it beautifully. This is why I feel so passionate to be in my role as Doula.

I studied at MotherWit in Montreal in 2012 to become certified as a birth doula. In 2018 I trained with Newborn Mothers Collective to become certified as a Postpartum Doula.  I live in the Eastern Townships, Quebec, where I offer my services in the areas of- Cowansville, Sutton, Knowlton,Frelighsburg, Bedford, Farnham, Granby and other small towns in the area.

Many times, now, our village is not present. We are lacking elders, guidance, support and nourishment from our entourage. Without this feeling of support, we may feel lost. Without the feeling of being held, it may feel harder to fully step into this new chapter of Matrescence and embody the new role as Mother.

Would you appreciate having someone to check-in with regularly, a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen? Someone to help you fully embody your entry into Matrescence?

Please reach out so we can share together on how I could fulfill this role as your doula.
