Ceremony & Rites of Passage

Matrescence Blessing Ceremony

To fully embody and step-in Matrescence a woman can greatly benefit from a ceremony or rite of passage that is held for her in order to mark this important moment of her life.

When we feel honored, seen, heard and loved this feeling moves with us and through us in each day that follows. To be fully present in this moment of ceremony can have life altering effects. Women feel inspired and encouraged to flourish. They feel reassured to know that they have a village who will be there through their challenging moments to come, as new mothers. They feel held and uplifted, loved and accepted. These are all deeply important things that are lacking in our current culture for most new mothers. Why not offer yourself this experience to step into Matrescence?

It is my pleasure to weave with you this moment of ceremony!

How it works:

* First Meeting –1 ½-2hr

 Over tea we will share and explore the topic of Matrescence. We will explore your lineage stories surrounding pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. We will brainstorm ideas of who could be a part of your Matrescence village and who you would like to invite to this Rite of Passage. If you are in the Eastern Townships and you are worried that you know no one who could be a part of your village...don’t you worry! We will set you up with some amazing momma friends!

* Second Meeting- 1 ½- 2hrs

Again over tea, we will go over any fears or concerns that may have arisen surrounding this passage, in fact we can share on the whole rainbow of emotions that you may be feeling! We will craft together the ceremony. I will share with you ideas of different rituals that we could do during the ceremony and you can choose which ones feel best for your ceremony. I will help you create an invitation with explanations to send out to anyone you might like to invite. I will also provide you with a list of things to have on hand that day. Most of the things I will bring or get myself to keep the organizing to a minimum for you, as this is supposed to be something special offered to you! If you would like to have another woman who is close to you attend this meeting with us to help with the planning & organizing this could be great.

* Matrescence Blessing Ceremony- 3-4 hours at the location of your choosing

Closing of the Bones Ceremony

Closing of the Bones is a traditional postpartum ceremony that has its roots in many cultures from around the world. (known as “Cerrar la Cadera ” in Mexico and “Seven Locks ” in Russia). This Rite of passage is offered to help women ‘ reincorporate ’ after the immense opening of pregnancy and birth. A sacred moment to turn inwards and honour the physiological, psychological, energetic, and spiritual transformation that has occurred.

The ritual is offered by 2 doulas and involves the use of a traditional shawl to rock and articulate the mother’s body and gently guide the bones back into place. The process begins with a warm oil massage and closes with a cleansing bath. Receiving this massage and ceremony after the first 40 days postpartum can stimulate blood flow and calm the nervous system. As well as offer a safe and loving space for emotional release.

The ceremony can be adapted to the needs of each woman, and time can be taken when needed for the mother to feed her baby.

In an intentional effort to make postpartum care accessible to ALL women, the Closing of the Bones Ceremony is offered under a sliding scale - pay what you can model.

The cost of this 2.5-hour ceremony is $300.

This includes paying myself and my partner a fair wage and the cost of tools and transportation. Please evaluate your family ' s resources and choose based on your household income, access to financial resources, debt load, home ownership status, and willingness to contribute to other families in need. If you can pay the full amount, please know that there is a portion of this amount that will go directly to cover the cost of the ceremony for a Mother who cannot afford it.

Included in this package are the following gifts:

Epsom salt bath mix

Massage oil with medicinal plants
